What Is A Pick The Band Contest?

PickTheBand.com is inviting bands from different cities to participate in online contests. Bands will submit music and videos and will have a chance to win a variety or prizes. Fans will win as well and have a part in the record label process.

How Does It Work For Bands?

The contest has been designed to showcase bands a variety of ways, not just their music, and to get the fans to know as much about the bands as possible.

Register your band on PickTheBand.com and submit the following:

• An ORIGINAL music video (set to a good quality original song). Cover songs are not eligible.

Bands should also submit the following (selected bands will be asked to do so):

• 2 original songs in MP3 format
• A video of a live performance (with good audio quality)
• A Video Blog
• 10-15 band photos

Your submissions will be reviewed by our judges first and then you will be notified if you have made it through to the contest. Only 15 bands will be featured in the competition. Number of bands may vary per competition.

There are three rounds in the contest:

First Round: 15 bands

The first round will feature the original video submission of the selected bands. Fans will watch and rate the band´s video submission. Fans can rate each video once per day and can do it every day.

Second Round: 8 bands

The second round will feature a slide show video of one of the other songs that the band submitted set to the pictures that the band provided.

Final Round: 3 bands

The final round will feature the live video performance of the remaining three bands.
Note: Please make sure the audio is clear on the live performance.

Band Profile Pages

Bands will have the opportunity to manage their own profile pages. The profile pages will have their videos, music and photos. Bands are encouraged to create a "Video Blog" that is designed to let the fans know about the band (when did you become a band, funny stories, etc.). This video can be 2-3 minutes long and will be featured on the bands’ public profile page

What Do Bands Win?

Prizes will vary per contest. They will usually consist of one or more of the following: a performance slot, a recording contract* and much more.

Previous winners have won:

• Recordings with multi-platinum producers such as Don Gilmore and Mudrock
• Cash prizes of up to $2,500
• A feature on Myxer.com
• A featured performance at the ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO in Los Angeles

How Does It Work For The Fans?

A fan can register at any time. You will log into the site with your email address and password. You will have a chance to review one, two or as many video entries as you want. You vote each day. You will also be asked to participate in selecting the song to be recorded by the winning band. You will also have the chance to participate in other record label initiatives.

Do Fans Win Anything?

Yes. Each week fans will have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes. Winners will be randomly chosen. The more you vote, the more opportunities you have to win. This may be an Ipod, an Xbox, etc. Also, one fan will be invited to spend some time in the studio with the winning band.

Will the Contests always be with the same format?

Contests may vary in time and format. Details will be made available for each contest.

How often will the contests occur?

We will have 4-5 contests a year.
